O presente trabalho faz uma abordagem dos elementos constituintes da cultura e cosmovisão africanas e da centralidade da religião nas mesmas. Especificamente, essas características são as seguintes: a família, a vida comunitária e a religiosidade. Tal abordagem se dá, em especial, a partir da cultura yorùbá presente e oriunda na e da África Ocidental: locus do surgimento do Culto aos Orixás. Enfim, este artigo vem ao encontro do desafio de implementação da Lei n. 11.645, de 2008, que torna obrigatório o ensino da história e cultura africanas e afro-brasileira na educação básica, juntamente com a história e cultura dos povos indígenas brasileiros.Palavras-chave: Cultura Africana; Cosmovisão Africana; Culto aos Orixás no Brasil.
Characteristics of African Culture and Worldview and centrality of the Orisha Worship in Brazil
Abstract
This paper presents an approach of the constituent elements of African culture and worldview, and the centrality of religion in them. Specifically, these features are: family, community life and religiosity. This approach is given, in particular, from the present Yoruban culture originated in Africa and the West: the locus of the emergence of the cult of the Orishas. Anyway, this article has been meeting the challenge of implementation of Law Nº 11.645, 2008, mandating the teaching of African and afro-Brazilian history and culture in basic education along with history and culture of indigenous peoples in Brazil.
