The present article aims to present the research that deals with the theme "Sex Education and Sexuality in the Initial Years of Elementary School". To this end, a survey was conducted in the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) of the Brazilian Institute of Information, Sciences and Technology - IBICT, with the descriptor "Sex Education" and, with this, we identified 1605 works. With the intention of refining the search, we added the descriptors: "Teacher Training" and "Elementary School", which resulted in 44 works, among which, only 10 were directly related to the study proposed here. We found with the survey that there is still much to be investigated and explored about the pedagogical practices that promote qualitative learning in the field of sex education in the early years of primary schools, being relevant the teacher training and guiding materials that provide security for the approach of the sexuality theme. We can infer that it will be through dialogue and with the dissemination of knowledge that the importance of sex education will be recognized. Besides, sex education always happens, even if one is not aware of it, or that denial occurs, for there is no way to delimit spaces for sexuality, since it is part of the human dimension.
