Este texto discute o lugar da ciência na cultura moderna; questiona os critérios científicos e parte da noção original de indissociabilidade entre ser humano e natureza, considerando as críticas à ciência, particularmente elaborada ao longo do século XX. Apresentando, deste modo, a hermenêutica como uma das alternativas à objetividade e indicando a importância das ciências sociais, especificamente a educação, como lócus de formação da subjetividade.

Modern science: drama or tragedy
This paper discusses the place of science in modern culture; it questions scientific criteria and starts from the original notion of indissociability between the human being and nature, considering the criticism of science, particularly developed through the twentieth century. It presents hermeneutics as an alternative to objectivity and indicates the importance of social sciences, specifically education, as the locus of formation of subjectivity.
