The purpose of this paper is to present a reflection on different edges of the quality issue in higher education in Latin America and their relations with the training of teachers, so that they may arise in the midst of the diversity of forms and ideological homogeneity of ways that point to the construction of a university quality based , besides academic excellence, on the equity, justice and human development strategies to ensure the respect for human rights, the valorization of dignity, the pleasure of a more human life and the construction of a fairer society.
