Focus and Scope
The Conhecimento & Diversidade Journal (RCD), eISSN 2237-8049, is published by Centro Universitário La Salle do Rio de Janeiro and is part of the Rede La Salle de Instituições, present in 83 countries, with 74 universities and 1003 basic education schools. The Journal is also part of the Província La Salle Brasil-Chile and the Projeto Educativo Regional Lasallista da América Latina (PERLA). The title “Conhecimento & Diversidade” (RCD) reflects the journal’s commitment to valuing a plurality of knowledge and fostering dialogue among diverse areas of the Social Sciences and the Humanities, promoting critical debates and building interdisciplinary knowledge that responds to emerging challenges in contemporary society.
Given the interdisciplinary breadth of the Social Sciences and Humanities, it is important to clarify that the Conhecimento & Diversidade Journal (RCD) may prioritize articles exploring relationships among Education, Communication, Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, International Relations, Law, Linguistics, Language, Cultural Studies, Development, Urban Studies, Public Administration, and other related subfields. By encompassing multiple theoretical and methodological approaches, the journal is dedicated to publishing articles that effectively contribute to the contemporary analysis of society and social problems in different contexts—local, regional, national, or international—promoting qualitative transformations for social development, grounded in scientifically rigorous research recognized both nationally and internationally.
As an international and interdisciplinary journal, RCD values the participation of researchers from diverse backgrounds, without excluding the contributions of authors working in related areas who present preferably interdisciplinary approaches. Due to the institutional pedagogical project of Centro Universitário La Salle do Rio de Janeiro, the Conhecimento & Diversidade Journal (RCD) places special emphasis on articles with pedagogical, psychological, sociological, historical, and related focuses that contribute to the broad field of the Social Sciences and Humanities.
Thematically, it may grant preference to articles related to education and teaching, considering that pedagogical and educational issues by themselves foster broader interdisciplinary discussions committed to the transformation of people and contemporary society. The journal may exceptionally welcome other articles from areas related to the Social Sciences, such as the Humanities, that address interdisciplinary, emerging, complex, and challenging themes and phenomena of contemporary society, as it maintains that these areas are also part of the same constantly transforming society. By recognizing the central role of teaching and education in understanding and transforming societies, RCD fulfills the Institutional Pedagogical Project of Centro Universitário La Salle do Rio de Janeiro, without relinquishing its interdisciplinary commitment in the broad field of the Social Sciences.
Periodicity
From 2009 to 2016, RCD published its issues biannually. From 2017 to 2022, it adopted a triannual publication schedule. As of 2023, it will publish four issues per year (quarterly), due to the growing volume of qualified articles. In this way, RCD aims to increasingly contribute to authors who entrust the journal with their academic and scientific work.
